Finding the perfect animal companion

Make sure to do your homework before deciding on a new family member. You may think you want a dog, but aren't home enough to take proper care of a dog. Perhaps you may want to think about a cat instead.
If you are set on a dog, think about the needs of the breed.
Adopting from a rescue is a smart idea. Most of these animals come from death row in local shelters. The majority of rescues use foster homes and are very well aquainted with the animal. They are most suited to help you make a decision.
Look for adoption events at your local Petco store. It's the best way to meet your new companion. You'll know it is the right pet for you when you see him/her. Plus you get a great discount coupon book for adopting which saves you money and gets your new pet off to a great start!
